Water pump plate gasket

We had a 347 built for my bothers Mustang, long story short they put a standard rotation water pump on it and we needed a reverse for that set up. Anyway I have a brand new standard pump here and I'm going a timing chain replacement on my 74 Bronco and am also installing the new water pump. I cleaned all the gasket and rtv off and mocked up the new gasket. Seems the bottom part of the gasket doesn't match the pump. See pic. Do I have the wrong gasket? I happen to have 3 gaskets here and they all are like this.

You can see the gaps which would let the main impeller cavity not seal...

Have you tried a different orientation for the gasket ? - flip over - top bottom - reverse it.
I've got a couple of gaskets but no 5.0L/302 water pumps laying around to check.

Ya I tried every direction. Turns out there are different gaskets that go between the plate and the pump and the plate to the timing cover. They look similar but are different. For anyone's future reference don't but Felpro # 35066. It statest clearly that ithe is for a 302 but actually only fits 351c/400m style water pumps.

Thanks for the heads-up. I will check autozone for other options.
