Tie rod & draglink advice

Post by Stan » Wed Feb 03, 2010 11:44 am

It's time to replace the tie rod and drag link on the '68.
I can't quite decide which way to go. Tie rod over or under isn't an issue I know what that's going to involve.
I'm looking at the Stonecrusher system or BCS heim joint and DOM tubing vs the f-150 " stock style". Then there's the Chevy tie rod ends on Dom - but that seems like work and requires getting the parts and tools. The rest are all about the same cost.
I know the pros and cons of the heim joints. I'm also a little worried about the weld on "saddle" that BCs uses.
Any ideas or experiences or things I haven't thought of.
I should mention I've got F-150 knuckles and that damn 2 wheel drive PS gear. Both change the tie rod and draglink from the stock dimensions.

Thanx for the link Mark.

well in that case your going to have to come out and take a look at what we have. got full width axles front (minus brakes since stan already snag thos) and rear, np435 tranny, drivelines front and rear (since he found out they wont woork with the new lift), 3 1/2 front lift coils, stock height rear springs w/wo blocks to match front springs, and god knows what eles is laying around.

P.S. sorry for hijacking your thread Stan

Put me down for the rear driveline, and what are you doing with the 435? Don't worry about the hijacking of stans thread he isn't ever going to pick a style of tie rod and drag link. 8)
