Post by mlittlefair » Fri Mar 05, 2010 6:17 pm

i am doing 4x4x2 power steering convertion on my 71, i have a saginaw pump from an 85 chevy. i got the brackets from wild horse, but the pump is hitting the power steering box and the pulley is about 1/4" from the steering box. i do not have room to ajust the pulley. has any one had this same problem? any suggestions would be appriciated.
coming soon are some pics of my PROJECT 71.

Have you called Wild Horses? Maybe they know why the pump sits so low.

I used a power steering pump bracket from BC Bronco. I did not have the problem you described.

Are you talking about their pump bracket that has " a belt tensinoner hole" and is " designed for " additional clearence between the pump pulley and steering box" ? Or is this the adjusting bracket?
Maybe you're trying attach the bracket to low to the motor or the pump to the wrong holes in the pump bracket.
They've got pictures of it mounted in their catalog and on their web site.
