Hello! Been a while since I've been able to do any work on the bronco, but back to it now.

Looking at replacement carpet and thinking I'll use marine grade (snap in for the bed/back) and I found something that might interest those who are also working on a restoration and want to keep it looking stock.

Corinthian Marine Carpet makes a synthetic / non-carpet mat with a rubber backing that can be snapped in (or you couuld use velcro) and it looks somewhat similar to the original flooring. I've ordered a sample to see how it looks in person. I'm hoping that it can also be used in a more permanent application for the front. If not, I may go with something else, but I'm hoping this will work. Anyway, I've seen others looking for something to match the original floors and this is the closest I've seen.

Has anybody used marine grade carpet? If so, how did it work out for you?

I just installed carpet in an 'other than Bronco' from these guys... http://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp?MakeId=34&ModelId=221&MainCatId=1&Desc= and I must say I was very impressed with the quality, heavy massbacking/rubberized underneath.
I don't have an answer for your marine grade question, nor do I know where the EB vendors get their carpet. Just thought I would throw this site out there.- I would buy from them again.

Shawn.

Can't wait to see what the material sample looks like! Should be interesting.
Keep us posted.

Thanks Shawn. I think I've actually looked at their stuff before. If I can't get the marine carpet to work, I'll head their direction. I'd like to be able to take the mats out and hose them off when I need to.

When I get the other flooring sample I'll post pics.

So the sample looks nothing like the image they posted on the website. It has a black "thread" in it, which gives the overall color more of a taupe look than cream or parchment. The material is very playable and would probably work ok, but the look doesn't cut it for me. Oh well...back to the drawing board.

The pic I posted it still not a good representation because of the lighting in my house, but you get the idea of how different it looks.

Yeah, no kidding! Looks like it might be a good matchup with a Tan Ranger/Explorer interior though. Even though they often came with the parchment version too, lots of Rangers got the full color treatment.
Oh well. Next time.

Paul
