After 3 years of work, this is where I am at right now. Let me know what you think. Here is what I did:

tore down to the frame. Sanded and painted frame with chassis black.
New JBG 3 1/2 suspension. National leafs in rear.
77 Dana 44 with disks
351W crate engine from Ford
Switched to C4 from 77
Power steering
Waiting on BC to deliver rear disk setup
sanded body to metal, cut out rockers, POR-15 underneath
PU steering setup
WH body bushings with 1" lift
All nuts and bolts are new, stainless where possible, grade 8 where necessary.

Where did you get the exhaust and what type of shorty headers are you using?
Any clearence probs w/ H pipe?

Most of the work was done myself, had the roll cage made for me.

Exhaust headders are Hedman Elite, alot cheaper than the Bronco houses, fit real well on my 351W (may be trouble if you have manual trans shift linkage), cost about $200 at Jegs.

Where did you get the exhaust (not headders) or did you bend them yourself? Sweet looking rig!!!

You do really nice work.

1. Where do you plan on having it painted?
2. Do you mind saying how much $ that custom cage ran.
3. Do you have any nice chrome bumpers in your parts supply that are for sale?

Bronco-Raliegh,

Thanks. I have no idea where to get it painted yet, saving a little $$$ to get it done. I would like to get a good base-coat/clear-coat job done so it will last for a while (like a new car)

Roll cage was $450.00 in 2000. (total for roll cage, procar seats and kayline fastrack top was 1,200 back then) I think I got a good deal.

I don't have the chrome bumpers anymore. Sorry.

Noticing from your log-on, are you local? I am in Angier, NC just south of you. Interested in getting together to talk Broncos and take a look at each others work. That is the best way I get ideas for mine.

I am the guy in raleigh that sent you a few emails regarding the purchase of your mtr's (without the welds). I really like the custom cage. I would be interested in talking to your fab. guy if he would offer a decent price.

My eb is getting close to finished. I've got a guy doing some work and is supposed to be finished in mid july. At that point I'll be in the market for a new paint job... probably of the Maaco variety.

I would also be interested in getting together this summer to talk shop. There are a few more of them around Raleigh... it would be nice to organize a local roundup. Maybe in August???

More updates:

Finished the rear disk brake conversion (BC Broncos)
Installed the door inserts (great quality from Broncitis)

Waiting on the Proto Fab front winch bumper an then am packing everything up to move to Kansas for 10 months and hopefully back to NC.

Here are some more updates since I moved to Kansas:

Painted the Bronco using spray cans (base and Clear coats). Got tired of the primer look and was worried about rust starting again.

Installed new Painless Wiring Harness (it is truely painless) and MSD.

Smoothed, painted and installed dash. Rebuilt and painted gauges.

Installed, headlights, tail lights, side markers, trim.

Still to do:

Radiator (in on the Griffen mass buy)

Carb

Front and rear driveshafts.

Fenderflares

Power Brake booster (from Master Power Brakes, same as new JBG Ultimate setup but over $100 cheaper - I believe they are the supplier)

Let me know what you think.

Is that the new Painless harness? With or without the Weather-Pack connecters?

It is the new Painless harness. The connectors are weatherpack and the fusebox is waterproofed. Pretty awesome. Hooked right up to my GFM tilt column too with no mods. Has alot of extra wires for use later that are built in like lights, electric fan plus switch, stereo, etc.

You've got the color I've been looking for. What kind of paint do you have on her? What brand paint and where did you get it. Who did your prep work and who painted it?
Mine's in primer and desparately needs some paint.

Believe it or not, I rattle can painted it myself. After moving and still trying to get it running, I decided that a few grand for a paint job was not something in the budget right now but I needed to get it out of primer (primer absorbs moisture) So I sanded her down one last time and painted with:

Dupli-Color Truck, Van & SUV paint (cheap base coat clear coat)
Color is T183 Gray (M) and then with a clear coat.

I put down about 3-4 coats of color and 3-4 coats of clear. It turns out real nice without any streaking or runs but it coats real thin. Could use another 3-4 coats of clear to thicken it up. Paint goes on real smooth though. Used about 8 cans of color and 8 cans of clear.

You can find it at any Autoparts store. I got mine at O'Reilly's and Autozone. Had to buy two cans at a time as that is all each store stocked at a time Rolling Eyes Very Happy

UPDATE:

Installed the Gorilla Warflares. Fairly easy install and they made a huge difference in space in the wheelwells and made my crappy rattle-can paintjob look alot better.

Installed the Tuffy glovebox.

Finished up alot of engine compartment stuff. Finished the wiring, installed the aluminum radiator and hooked up the tranny cooler lines, MSD to Duraspark connections, installed my carb (Road Demon - gift) and hooked up the elec choke. Still have acouple small items to do before I start it up and break the crate motor in.

Then I will finish the power booster and driveshafts and drive it to the muffler shop for a custom exhaust, breath a sigh of relief and start enjoying being actually able to drive the truck after almost 4 years.

Would you mind taking a picture of the Tuffy glovebox showing it open? Is this just a door, or does it slide in to the opening as well? Secondly, is that a Lokar automatic shifter? Are you using a C4?

Here is a pic of the glovebox open. The glovebox is a complete unit that slides into the current opening. It is secured by a mounting strap that is placed above the box inside the dash and bolted to the box passing through holes that are already there. The backet is shaped like an upside down U. Very secure and you can't get at the mount without opening the glovebox. HTH

I am running a 77 Bronco C-4 and that is a Lokar shifter, 18" handle that I had to slightly bend to clear the dash.
