While replacing the 2bbl carb on my 302, found the spacer w/ EGR attached had burned thru body. It (EGR was never hooked to anything- is it ok to just get rid of it?

Hey there. What did you end up doing?
It can be fixed or replaced, or you can just delete it like you were thinking.
I wouldn't necessarily get rid of it however, if you ever think you're going to sell the truck. If the buyer is in a state that has smog checks, they'll need that and appreciate having it.

You should make sure you have all the vacuum fittings you need for PCV and such already on the carburetor base. Or if no base spacer on your particular carb, you'll need to get a plain, non-EGR spacer to replace this one.

You may have to mess with your fuel mixtures and especially your ignition timing a little as well, as removing this changes the combustion chamber temperature quite a bit.

Good luck. Hope you got it figured out already.

Paul
